"End the electoral process"

The Italian Ambassador to Tirana, Massimo Gaiani, declared in an interview for Top Channel that the June 23rd elections showed a great democratic spirit of the Albanian people.

According to them, one of the elements that left positive impressions to the international community, besides the electoral process, was what came after, the mutual respect and acceptance of the parties.

Mr. Gaiani declares that they are “strongly requesting that this process should end quickly in respect of the Albanian people, who was strongly engaged to this electoral process. This would also preserve the trust that Albania has received from the international institutions. The Italian Diplomat gave an answer to questions that are related to Albania’s European Union process.

“Before the elections there was a delay of Albania’s approach to the European Union. The passing of the three laws created good conditions for starting this path. In mid October the Commission will present its report and I think that these months, until December, are very essential. Italy will do everything in our power but we also ask Albania to help us help you. If the months in front of us will be used to improve the rule of law, justice, corruption and crime, the possibilities are very good. The electoral process went very well and it will be a factor that will affect the decision of December for good. But there are other things that need to be completed, and it depends on how this period will be used until December”, the Ambassador declared.
