Lithuanian presidency of the EU

Lithuanian presidency of the EU

Macedonia is not among the priority countries for the enlargement process of the European Union. This was declared by the Lithuanian ambassador for Macedonia, Renetas Jushka, who introduced the priorities of Lithuania during these six months of leading the European Union Council.

“We are trying to be very accurate regarding our priorities. I can say that your country is not there. It might sound bad, but this is the signal that we have been trying to give for a long time, because we are really concerned about you”, declared Renetas Jushka, Ambassador of Lithuania for Macedonia.

The Lithuanian diplomat declared that Skopje should mark progress in many areas. He declared to the Macedonian authorities that the progress of this country is more necessary for the Macedonian citizens than Lithuania.

“My duty today is not to joke on your account. I would feel sad about your country, because our list of concerns is long. We are not talking only about some issues. We are talking about the reception of the European Union countries, which demand from Macedonia more media freedom, the rule of law and war against corruption”, the ambassador declared.

The Parliament Members of the Macedonian opposition declared that the speech of the Lithuanian ambassador is unfortunately based on the real situation. The state leaders blamed Greece for blocking Macedonia due to the problem these countries have about the constitutional name of this country.
